Steve Buckley and Mike Outram are heavyweights of the British jazz scene. With the former starting his career in Loose Tubes he has gone on to lead bands and work with top names ever since. Steve has recorded and worked in Africa so expect to hear groove-oriented original material reflecting Steve’s long-standing and deep connection with African and Latin American music all imbued with a contemporary jazz flavour.
Mike is one of the most sought after jazz guitarists in the country who has recorded with over a hundred top line musicians as well as leading many groups and projects of his own. He is currently Professor of guitar at the Royal Academy of music.
Strange News is a new project bringing them together with two of the UK’s top jazz/world music players, Jihad Darwish on Bass and Jem Fatna on drums, both highly acclaimed and in demand musicians.
