It’s Christmas and Teignmouth Jazz and Blues Club is taking the opportunity to beat the rush by having a great party night when the incredibly popular singer Annika Skoogh joins forces with the rising key board player Tom Ball, the very talented Jim Rintoul on bass and Gary Evans on drums. The result is the Liminal project.
As the name Liminal would suggest this is a period of transition when superb musicians come together and explore and blend their differing musical persona to produce a new state of musical experience.
Annika has a reputation for delivering a wide variety of songs ranging from Brazilian Bossa Nova to jazz standards that really swing. But you can expect even more as she works with Liminal which will be launched on the night. The band has been working hard over the past months to bring a new repertoire that retains favourites but brings a new freshness with original numbers as well as pop and contemporary tunes. Even the great American Song Book is reworked with imaginative rearrangement and harmonies. With tunes from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Cyndi Lauper, Charles Mingus, Stevie Wonder, Simply Red, Kurt Elling, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Roy Hargove you will be spoilt for choice
Fresh, lively and of course entertaining this will be a great evening to start the Festive period. Tell your friends and come along
