Pete Oxley and Nick Meier first came to Teignmouth for the Jazz Festival last year. Between them they pulled off a rare trick for a Festival in that when strolling fans walked into their gig they stayed spell bound at what they heard and by the end of the gig there was queue down the Riviera Bar stairs and into the street. Not surprisingly when they went on tour this year Teignmouth was a certain date.
While any guitarist will obviously see that this duo can achieve with a dozen or so instruments this is not just an evening for guitarists or jazz fans. Anyone who appreciates virtuosity will have an evening to remember. Their music cuts across many boundaries with elements of jazz, Spanish, classical and English and American folk. The music sometimes explores further afield through Nick’s love of Turkish Music. While all their compositions are separate the overwhelming feeling at the end of their performance is of a single ethereal piece of work that has risen and fallen as the pair play seamlessly between them.
