We are committed to keeping your information secure and private. This policy tells you what information we collect on our website and why, how we keep it safe, how we use that information, who we share that information with and what your rights are.
We only collect the information we need to allow you to use our website and to maintain your membership with us. We never use that information for any other purpose. The rest of this policy is just further detail.
If you simply wish to browse our website, no personal data is directly collected by us. A single cookie is used to check if you have accepted our cookie and privacy policies.
With all cookies on this site personal information is not contained in the cookies, however, it may be possible to use the information in combination with other data to build a personal profile. This is why we secure our site to prevent malicious access.
If you use the social sharing buttons on our blog, some information will be collected by the social platform and their cookies will remain on our website. We use encryption on our website to help prevent access to these cookies.
In order to share, you will need to have an account with the social platform you use, and therefore will have already agreed to their terms for privacy and the use of cookies. Privacy and cookie information for the sites we connect to is here:
Clearly we need a lot more information when you make payments or sign-up for membership. Our site will use cookies to enable features such as the Checkout. When you choose to buy, we will take your name, address and contact details which are then stored on our site. We NEVER use this information for any other purpose than fulfilling your membership payments. We do not use it for marketing, and never share it unless under legal obligation to do so with a recognised and trusted authority.
We are ethical when managing your data. It is protected with encryption and accessible only to the TJNB staff and our web developer.
When you submit information through the contact form it is sent directly to us. This email is only accessed by us. Forms are also stored on this website. After responding to the email and resolving the enquiry, the email will be deleted unless we enter ‘legitimate interest’, which means you have requested membership, newsletters or another relationship where storing your data is reasonable or required.
You are not added to any list or marketing campaign and your data is not retained unless this is explicitly requested by yourself in writing.
Mike Smith – Owner of Digital Smithy (see Contact Details below).
Staff Team – Teignmouth Jazz and Blues (this means up to 2 nominated team members in charge of the website).
Our website uses encryption so that cookies and information entered on forms is secure. This is through an SSL certificate. You can see that our site is secure through your web browser, which will have a padlock or a green ‘SECURE’ message, and will show HTTPS at the beginning of our website address.
We do not share your information with or sell it to third parties.
We will not disclose your information to any third party unless we are required to do so by law. In such cases we will ensure due diligence in releasing only required information, and this only to recognised official parties entitled to require this information under law.
To act upon these rights contact us using the details below.

Mike Smith is our website developer through Digital Smithy. He provides website, security and social media support to us. As the developer of our site he has access to all data on the site. As host of our website, Digital Smithy acts as a “data sub-processor”. This is a term used by the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). This means that Digital Smithy provides our hosting, the space where our website and email are stored, and therefore has access to them. Upon contracting Digital Smithy to host our website, both parties signed an agreement stating that Digital Smithy will not access or act upon any data relating to TJNB without our explicit consent. We have ensured that Digital Smithy abides by the GDPR and treats all our data and that of website users, members and email contacts in strict confidence.
